Alex Neagu – 15-Year-Old Winger Scouted by Fulham, Altrincham, Bromley, and Norwich 

Fifteen-year-old winger Alex Neagu has always known what he wanted from football — exposure, opportunity, and a shot at the next level. After attending a UK Football Trials event, he’s now firmly on the radar of several professional clubs, including Fulham, Altrincham, Bromley, and Norwich City. 

Alex’s football journey began early, joining Colchester United’s academy at the age of eight. He spent four crucial development years at the club, honing his technical skills and tactical understanding in a structured academy environment. At U13, he moved on to Brentwood Town and is currently playing for Stanway Rovers in the Eastern Junior Alliance (EJA) league — a well-respected competition known for producing high-level youth talent. 

With his sights firmly set on professional football, Alex decided to attend a UK Football Trials camp. His goal was simple: to be seen. 

“I came to UK Football Trials because I wanted exposure. I wanted to be seen by scouts and coaches at top clubs, and I knew this was the best place for that.” 

At the trials, Alex made an immediate impression with his pace, control, and ability to beat defenders one-on-one. In one of the standout moments of the two-day camp, he dribbled through the entire opposition defence to score a brilliant solo goal — an eye-catching moment that was fortunately captured on Veo video. 

“That goal was definitely one of the best moments of the trial. I remember picking the ball up out wide, taking on one, then two, and just kept going. Once I scored, I could hear people clapping — it felt amazing.” 

His performances didn’t go unnoticed. Four clubs expressed interest in Alex — Fulham, Altrincham, Bromley, and Norwich City. While some clubs mentioned travel distance as a potential barrier, the interest itself was a big confidence boost. 

“To know that professional clubs noticed me was such a great feeling. It made all the hard work feel worth it.” 

Soon after, Alex was invited to a one-day trial with Bromley, joining 18 other players looking to impress. Although he didn’t get as much time on the pitch as he’d hoped, he still managed to make an impact — scoring an incredible goal from the halfway line. 

“I didn’t get a huge amount of minutes, but I knew I had to take my chance when it came. I saw the keeper off his line and just went for it — and it went in. One of those moments you don’t forget.” 

Reflecting on the experience, Alex says UK Football Trials gave him much more than just an audience of scouts — it gave him confidence, belief, and a real sense of what’s required to play at the next level. 

“The level of coaching, the intensity, the feedback — it really helped me grow. It’s a serious environment, but also supportive. You learn a lot just from being around other high-level players.” 

He remains in contact with clubs and is eagerly waiting on next steps. In the meantime, he’s back training and playing with his EJA side, focused on improving every day. 

“I’d absolutely recommend UK Football Trials. It’s not just about being seen — it’s about becoming a better player, learning how to perform under pressure, and getting feedback that actually helps.” 

With his highlight-reel moments and a growing list of club interest, Alex Neagu’s journey is only just beginning — and UK Football Trials is proud to have played a role in helping him take the next step.
