Munesu Marambanyika – 9 Years Old Trial with Leicester City

Munesu’s love for football has been clear from an early age. He’s already spent several years playing for two grassroots clubs, where his impact has been nothing short of remarkable. Across four consecutive seasons, he’s finished as top goal scorer every single time. That level of consistency is a testament to his instinctive eye for goal, movement off the ball, and clinical finishing – qualities every club looks for in a centre forward.
He’s also earned a reputation among his coaches and teammates for his commitment. Whether it’s training drills or competitive matches, Munesu brings energy and determination to everything he does. His willingness to listen, learn and work hard has seen him develop rapidly, even at such a young age.
Recognising that he wanted to test himself further, Munesu signed up for UK Football Trials. He and his family understood that the event would bring together a large number of scouts from professional and semi-professional clubs. But beyond simply being seen, Munesu wanted to measure himself against other talented players, to see how his own game stood up in a more demanding environment.
Reflecting on the decision, Munesu says: “I came to UK Football Trials because of the number of scouts available and to see where my standard was with other kids.” It’s a refreshingly mature answer for a nine-year-old. He didn’t just want the chance to be scouted; he wanted to find out how much more he could improve.
The day itself delivered exactly what he’d hoped. He threw himself into the sessions with his usual drive, showing both skill and determination. Asked what he learned from the experience, he said it taught him “to play with intensity and to be physical.” For a young striker, understanding the need to use strength and aggression in the right way is essential, and UK Football Trials provided the perfect setting to learn that lesson.
Perhaps the standout moment for Munesu at the event was when a scout showed real interest in him after seeing some particularly impressive skill. That moment of recognition from an experienced talent-spotter gave him even more motivation. “The best moment was when a scout showed interest after I showed some good skills,” he explained. It confirmed that the hard work he’d put in with his grassroots clubs was paying off.
The results were immediate and significant. After the event, Leicester City sent scouts to watch Munesu play in a tournament match. Impressed with what they saw in a real competitive setting, they expressed clear interest. At present, Munesu and his family are waiting for contact from Leicester City to arrange training with their development centre. This would be an important next step, giving him access to elite coaching, facilities, and a clear development pathway within a Premier League academy.
Meanwhile, Derby County have also been in touch. Though they’re planning further ahead, they’ve indicated their intention to arrange a match during the 2025/26 season to get another look at him in action. It’s clear that his performance at the trial made enough of an impression for them to keep him firmly on their radar.
As of now, Munesu is awaiting his trial at Leicester Academy, something he’s both excited about and determined to prepare for properly. He understands the opportunity it represents and is focused on making the most of it when the time comes.
When asked if he would recommend UK Football Trials to other players, Munesu is clear: “Yes. Because it’s an opportunity to be scouted.” It’s simple but honest – for him, the trial was exactly what he needed to showcase his abilities to the right people.
Munesu’s journey is a fantastic example of how even very young players can benefit from the right environment, support, and opportunities. From scoring goals for his grassroots teams season after season to attracting interest from top clubs, he’s showing exactly the kind of promise that makes scouts take notice.
For now, he’ll keep working hard, scoring goals, and waiting for his chance to show what he can do at Leicester City. And if his story so far is anything to go by, this determined young striker will be one to watch in the years ahead.
