10-year-old Rhys Maddocks is set for a week’s trial with newly promoted Bristol Rovers, who will play this season in Football League 2.
Rhys attended our Swansea trial earlier in the year and impressed enough to receive attention from 4 clubs on the day. The tricky right midfielder is set to train with Rovers’ academy in August. Rhys, currently of Swansea City academy, trains several times a week in order to keep developing and maintain fitness levels.
“He trains pretty much every day with one team or academy somewhere, he just loves football and can’t get enough of it,” said his father. "The trial was very good and Rhys enjoyed it a lot, he’s actually been to two trials now and he was a bit nervous for the first one, but the second time he performed much better. These trials will have helped him massively in preparing for a pro club trial.” He added: “I have already recommend UK Football Trials to other players I work with. Rhys was already at a club but we brought him along and he came away with four more options in his football – we’ll definitely be coming back again."
