Stavros Tserpes - At Third Pro Club Trial Of 2016
Australian playmaker Stavros Tserpes is currently training with his third pro club of the year following another successful UK Football Trials appearance.
Stavros is extremely versatile and is not only technically excellent but has a fantastic attitude which has impressed everyone including UK Football Trials Goalkeeping Coach Billy Stewart who Stavros is staying with.
Stavros, 18, has spent the last four months training and playing with Accrington Stanley after he was scouted at our football trial earlier in 2016.
After joining up with them in pre-season, he has gone on to play in games against Barrow, Bury and Blackburn Rovers and still trains with the first team squad several times a week.
“I’ve been here for about 16 weeks now and I’m enjoying the experience,” said Stavros.
“It’s a good opportunity to train with players of this quality regularly and I played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn First Team which was a great experience and is only going to help my development.”
He added: “Now I’m really just waiting for a decision to see what will happen going forward.”
Stavros has attended several UK Football Trial events in the past year and has had opportunities with Premier League club Bournemouth AFC, playing a match for their u18’s, and Championship side Reading FC, where he was invited in for a trial over the Summer.
Accrington do not have an U21 side so in order to secure regular game time, Stavros has signed with semi-pro side Clitheroe FC, meaning he is able to keep match-fit and get regular minutes.
Speaking about his experience with UK Football Trials, Stavros said: "All of my trials have been really good, there's plenty of scouts and it's a really good chance for players - all you need to do is show your ability and you'll get picked up.
“I’ve personally had several opportunities with clubs through UK Football Trials.
“The feedback at the end of session was really helpful and I went away knowing what I had to work on and improve."
