Steffan Walker secures Premier League and League Two Trials

The right-back has been training with both Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale’s Development Squads this season, but could now be set to change allegiances.

Steffan attended our trial in Stockport on February 22nd and caught the eye of two Blackpool scouts who were representing the club on the day, as well as a Stoke scout – Bolton Wanderers have also been in touch with the player’s family and look set to firm up their interest soon.

His Dad, Stephen, said: “He is absolutely delighted with the news, of course. It did come as a bit of a shock to me to be honest because I didn’t actually think he was ready for this level – he’s a bit small.

“But obviously the scouts know their stuff so I’m happy to listen to them and it’s great if think he is ready.”

Stephen coaches his son, Steffan for his Sunday League side Crewe Arrows FC U12’s, but revealed the promising full-back hasn’t always shared his love for football.

“Steffan hasn’t always been in to football, he only started playing at 10-years-old,” revealed Stephen.

“When he was younger, his first experience of football was getting a ball kicked in his face so he stayed clear of it for a few years!”

The progress that Steffan has been making in his football has not only been helping his Sunday side but also his school team, who recently qualified for the last 32 of the National Schools Cup.

Our UK Football Trial event that Steffan was scouted at was the first time he had been to something like this, but it didn’t take him long to find his feet.

“He loved the trial with you guys,” said Stephen, “I think the big thing for him was the coaches, he really understands them and takes on board what they say.”

“Obviously it’s fantastic that he got scouted but it would have been worth going just for the coaching and the feedback, it’s great to get a professional coaches opinion on where he’s at, the feedback was one of the big reasons we came.”

Stephen added: “I’m going to tell all the boys at my team about it, it’s a great opportunity to get scouted.”

Steffan will be going in with Blackpool for one session initially, but with a view to keeping him on and possibly signing next season.

Steffan will also be going in with Stoke on Friday for a trial match.

We will bring you more updates on his future as we get them!
