Jaden Smith, 10, who plays as a winger, attended our trial in West London at the end of May and had his details taken by a scout from Barnet following an impressive display.

Within a week, Jaden had officially started his two-week trial and was training at The Hive, Barnet’s £11m training facility.

“Jaden is going in twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays for a couple of hours a night, training with the under-10’s,” said his mum, Natalie.

“He’s enjoying it and it’s a good club with a great new training ground, but it’s too early to tell what will happen at the moment, we’re just going to see how the trial goes and what the feedback is.”

Between 2012- and 2014 Jaden had various spells and trials with Chelsea, Tottenham and Brentford, and only last month he featured in a match for a Queens Park Rangers Development side.

Natalie said: “He has just been playing for his local team recently but through his school side he had the chance to play for the QPR Advanced Group and they’ve asked him back for another game again soon.”

The Barnet scout who spotted Jaden described him as an “athlete” and revealed there’s a chance he may get to play Arsenal next week.

“I really liked Jaden when I saw him at the trial event in West London, he’s got a good all round technique and is an athlete for his age,” said the scout.

“He’s fitting in well and it seems to be going okay at the moment, we will monitor him over pre-season before making a decision.”

He added: “We’d like to see him in a couple of games and we have one against Arsenal next week so he might be able to play in that – we’ll see if he’s selected.”

The event in May was the first UK Football Trial that Jaden had attended, but to him it was just another day in a busy week of football.

Natalie explained: “He plays football nearly everyday, but he said the UK Football Trial was excellent and the loved the coaching and feedback he got.

“Anything to do with football and he’s obsessed.”
