Bilal Kone - Aged 15 - Trial for Wolves u15's
Bilal Kone, 15, is one of three players who have been training Wolves’ Academy after being scouted at a UK Football Trials event in West London last year.
In December 2017, Bilal, an attacking midfielder, attended our trial event at QPR’s training ground and caught the eye of two pro club scouts – when Wolves returned to training in January they invited Bilal in for session at the academy.
Throughout the process, Bilal has been looked after by Alex, who has brought several players to our events in the last few months.
“A scout from Wolves contacted us in the New Year and invited Bilal in for a trial match on the 25th January against Leyton Orient,” revealed Alex.
“He played okay in the game but to be honest he has played better and I think he was a bit disappointed with his performance because he knows he can do better.
“But it’s a waiting game now, hopefully he’ll get a chance to play in another game.”
Bilal currently plays for the Stevenage's Shadow Squad, so he does have some experience in the professional environment, however in recent months he has been the subject of interest from some prestigious clubs.
While on holiday in France, Bilal was training in a local park preparing for his trial with Wolves, when he was noticed by a scout from Ligue 1 side Montpellier, who then proceeded to offer him a trial.
Meanwhile, another Premier League team have also expressed an interest in Bilal.
The decision was made to wait for the outcome of the Wolves trial before pursuing other options.
When we spoke to the Wolves scout who spotted Bilal at our trial, he revealed what it was about the promising attacker that caught his eye.
“Bilal is gifted technically,” he said, “I noticed that he a had a good touch with both feet.
“For me, I’d compare him to Leon Britton as a player – he communicates really well and keeps it simple, always finding a teammate.
He added: “At UK Football Trials, every time he got on the ball he did something I liked, so I had to have another look.”
Bilal is still waiting on a decision from Wolves before deciding on his next step, but remains hopeful that he will be invited back for another trial at the Championship leaders.
