After Alex's, or 'Ali' as he is otherwise known, was scouted by London club Charlton Athletic, he was invited to a trial at the clubs development centre. The 11-year-old showed great maturity when playing against older players in the group and had a real eye for goal. 

This was Ali's second trial at UKFT after attending one earlier in the year, when he was previously scouted by Reading and again was invited down for a training session with the club.

Charlton were impressed with Ali and have asked him to continue training with the development centre at the club.

Unfortunately, as Ali lives in Sutton, he found it difficult to continue to train at the club twice a week and has returned to his local side, Sutton United where he wants to develop his football until he is a little older. He will also continue training with the Chelsea Foundation.

Ali, who plays as a striker or a winger, has shown great potential and has gone on to have trials with two pro clubs from the two events he's attended with us - we'd like to wish him all the best going forward with his football career!
