Zak Zisis-Pladas - Aged 15 - Trial for Salford City
Midfielder Zak Zisis-Pladas was scouted by National League North Champions Salford City, at our Manchester event in April.
Zak, who is 15 and originally from Australia, attended our trial at Stockport Sports Village last month and did enough to earn a call back from the Salford City scout who was watching from the side-lines.
His mum, Lisa, explained: “Zak was invited to play for Salford u15’s and he played the full game centre-back which isn’t his favourite position, he’s usually a centre-mid or a winger.
“But he was happy for the opportunity all the same and did the best he could do.”
She added: “Salford said that they’ve got some good players coming in who play in his position, released from big clubs in the North West, but they like him and he will be monitored on the club’s database.”
Zak has never had a trial before, but since moving to the UK from Sydney he has already secured his first opportunity and have described this fist step as a “success” despite not securing a contract yet.
“This was his first ever trial and we’ve only been living here for four months,” said Lisa.
“Overall we’d say it’s been a success, he was picked up and had a trial, which unfortunately didn’t work out, but it was a good experience and hopefully something will come out of it in the end.”
Zak, who made the grand final with his school team last week, is currently training with Curzon Ashton’s u16’s and u18’s, around five times a week in total, and has some trials next week to decide the team for next season.
We wish Zak all the best for his future and will bring you more updates as we get them.
