A Wolves scout was present at our event at QPR’s training ground this summer and was impressed with 12-year-old Haidar Jebara and was quick to invite him in for a trial at their London training centre.

Haidar’s sister, Maryam, explained; “We went to UK Football Trials in London and on the day the scout from Wolves spoke to him and then his mum and I too, just to find out a bit more about him.

“We got an email a few days after the trial inviting Haidar to spend six weeks on trial with Wolves at their ground on London, so we went down the following week.”

Maryam continued: “He’s only 12-years-old but he’s quite tall and big for his age, so they’ve had him training and playing with the u16’s so it’s been a massive step up for him as they wanted to see how he would do in an older group.”

Despite his younger years, Haidar, who lives in Nigeria, held his own when training with the older players and was even selected to play against QPR u16’s, starting at right-back before moving to right-wing and then striker.

Haidar has never had any trials before and barely even plays matches at home in Nigeria, Maryam revealed.

“There just aren’t the opportunities where he lives,” she said.

“He plays for his school team but that’s it really, so you can imagine that he loved the UK Football Trials. It was so much fun and he never expected this chance he’s got, we just thought we’d go along to see how good he is.”

Haidar unfortunately had to cut short his trial in order to return home, but Wolves have left the invitation open and have assured him that’s he’s welcome to attend again when he’s back in England next summer.
