Goalkeeper Arron Davies has signed for Accrington Stanley following a successful UK Football Trial where he attracted attention from more than five clubs.

The 12-year-old shot stopper was one of the standout performers at our trial in May, and was soon contacted by Burnley, Blackpool, Blackburn and Everton among others.

Martin, Arron’s dad, explained: “We came to UK Football Trials and he generated interested from quite a few clubs.

“The coach was impressed with him as well and asked us about his background, he said technically Arron was the best he’d seen in a while.

“It was the end of May so obviously the season ended and it was quiet for a while, but then in pre-season we heard from a few clubs and it all started form there.”

Initially Arron was training with Burnley and Blackburn Rovers several days a week, before Martin received a call from Accrington Stanley.

“Accrington had Arron in for a trial in the past and then they got wind that he was training with Burnley, Blackburn and had interest from other clubs, so they got in touch again and invited him back in,” Martin explained.

“After a couple of sessions he had offers of official six week trials with a few teams, and was due to go into Everton as well, but Accrington called and offered a two-year contract.

“So after some consultatio we decided to take the contract with Accrington - obviously he’s thrilled, it means so much to him and all his hard work has paid off.

“This was a direct result of UK Football Trials because none of those first trials would have happened without them.”

Ash Hoskin, Accrington Stanley Head of Academy Recruitment, said he was “made up” to secure the signing of the young ‘keeper.

“We’re made up we’ve got him,” said Ash.

“He has settled in well and has got to grips straight away. Arron is a good talker, confident and all the staff have been really complementary about him.”

Arron has already made his debut for the club and kept clean sheets in his first two games against Fleetwood and Wigan, as well as featuring against Man United u13’s earlier this week.
