Daniel Colmer spent two days training with Bury FC u18’s after being scouted from our trials last year.
The 17-year-old ‘keeper spoke to us this week and revealed how the opportunity came about.
“At UK Football Trials the goalkeeper coach had a word with me and said he was going to put me in touch with his contacts at Bury,” explained Daniel.
“So they got my details through UKFT and a few days later I went down for a trial at the training ground with a group of other goalkeeper’s who were all on trial at the same time.”
“The weather was pretty bad during my time there and it made for some tough conditions but overall it went well and the coach was impressed with me.”
The highlight of Daniel’s trial with Bury came when he was invited to take part in the pre-match warm up before an u18’s fixture.
Daniel reflected: “I performed really well in the warm up and the coach said he would have actually signed me just based on my shot-stopping alone.
“The facilities were amazing at Bury, they train at Man City’s old training ground so it’s a very high standard and the coaching is the best I’ve ever had.
"They’re very honest with you and always try to help you.”
Unfortunately Bury were unable to sign Daniel as he lived too far away, but he has booked a place at our 5 Day Training and Trial Camp and will be returning for another opportunity later this year.
