Watford have taken 12-year-old Chinedu Duru on an 8 week trial after he impressed earlier this month during his first spell at the academy.

The versatile youngster, who can operate in centre-midfield, centre-back or as a full-back, was scouted from our trial in December after catching the eye.

“Chinedu went in for a trial and did well, so they’ve invited him back for 8 weeks,” explained Charles, Chinedu’s father.

Charles continued: “They said he performed very well and they’re happy with him.”

“At the moment Chinedu is at a boarding school in Norwich so we will just have to sort a few things out to get him down to Watford.”

Chinedu currently plays for Norwich’s Elite Academy, and also spent three months with Crystal Palace last summer.

“I think the UK Football Trials are very good, well organised and it gives a big opportunity to boys to show their skills to the scouts,” said Charles.

“I liked how they emphasised how important attitude was.”
