Rod Young - Aged 23 - Signed for Semi-Pro Club Newcastle Town
Former Norwich City Striker Rod Young has signed for semi-pro club Newcastle Town after attending our football trials.
Rod, who was on a professional contract with the Canaries back in 2013, has taken what he hopes will be one step back to go two steps forward, as he looks to rebuild his career in the semi-pro leagues.
Having attended several UK Football Trial events in the past couple of years, we provided Rod with opportunities at the likes of Barnsley and Red Bull Leipzig in Germany, before he finally settled at his new team last season.
UK Football Trials coach Robin van der Laan is currently in charge of the first team at Newcastle Town, who sit 15th in the Northern Premier League West Division.
Speaking about UK Football Trials, Rod said: “The whole setup is really professional and I think UK Football Trials is a great stepping stone for players to get them into the game.
"For me, my aim now is to push on from here.”
