Andrei Caragea - Aged 11 - Trial for Torquay
11 year old winger Andrei Caragea impressed scouts at one of our trials he attended in London back in February.
The 11 year old, who had only recently come to England caught the eye of a scout from Torquay. We spoke to his mother Anca who told us a bit about Andrei’s footballing background.
“We came to England 5 years ago, and Andrei had only played for his school. He then played for Arsenal Soccer Club for two years but they moved from Taunton so he no longer could.
"After that, he changed teams again but he had to leave in November for many reasons. Now he is in secondary and is playing for a Sunday league team and training with Taunton Town.”
Anca and her husband were recommended our trials by friends, telling us: “We were told about UK Football Trials by our friends. They had saw Andrei playing football and suggested we take him to London so that he could potentially be scouted or told yes or no as to whether he is good enough.”
“I just want my son to play football, he is a very sporty boy. Andrei is very good, he can shoot with both feet. He’s got so much potential. That’s why my husband and I decided he should go to the trials with your company to find another team for him to play for as he wants to step up a level and play.”
When asked about Andrei’s trial with Torquay, Andrei's mother said: “The facilities at Torquay were very good, I’ve been to many places with my son and I’ve never seen anything like that. The trial last night was good, with Andrei only being 12 and not English, it’s very important how friendly and welcoming the other players are with him. The other players spoke to him and passed him the ball so he was happy and got on well with everyone.”
We asked Anca what the difference in levels between his Sunday league team, our trials and those of Torquay, she said: “Andrei said his experience with Torquay was different to the trials he had with you in London. This is because with you guys the age range is 10 to 14 years old so he was playing with boys a lot bigger than him which he enjoyed. He thinks the level at Torquay was good and similar to what he has previously experienced.”
When asked what Andrei has planned for the future his mum said: “Andrei had a very good experience with Torquay, he is very happy. We are waiting to see what happens, we cannot attend the training on Monday due to work commitments but we are hoping to go on Thursday and then attend games on Saturdays.”
We wish Andrei the best of luck with Torquay and hope that he can officially sign with them in the near future.
