After attending our events in Australia, 13-year-old Andre Scott who plays as a holding midfielder, was scouted by League One side Charlton Athletic.

When talking to Andre’s father Shaun he explained: “We first attended your event in Sydney last year. We found UK Football Trials via the Internet, I was scanning around, seeing what opportunities there were in England and came across your event here in Australia.”

He added his thoughts on our event too: “The UK Football Trials camp was fantastic. My wife found the psychology aspect very interesting, Andre too. He is very susceptible to the information that was given to him, it was invaluable, and it’s a massive part of the game now.”

Since being scouted by Charlton, Andre has come to England to attend trials for the club. Shaun told us: “We went to the pre academy trial at the development centre and that all went very well. The guys there were very hospitable. As a result of Sandy seeing him, he’s recommended him to the head of recruitment and he’s now currently training with the academy players. They’re quite impressed with him.”

With Andre adapting well to the game here in England, we asked his father his thoughts on the differences between the UK and Australia where he stated: “Andre’s been training at a very high level anyway, but in England the football is to a much higher level. It’s much faster; the players that Andre is coming up against are to a similar standard to him. It’s much more advanced here than it is in Australia.”

When asked what Andre’s next steps are from here, Shaun said to us: “The under 13/14 coach Damien is keen to get Andre to play a game hopefully in the next couple of weeks against West Ham. He’s been told he’ll definitely be there next season.”

We would like to wish Andre the very best with his future at Charlton and are glad to have been able to play a part in helping him one step closer to his dream.  We hope he is able to officially sign for them next season and continue to grow and develop as a player.
