Northern Premier League (Premier Division), semi-pro side Lancaster City recently scouted 16-year-old winger Ben Glendon whilst he was on trial at one of our events back in February.

Both Stalybridge Celtic and AFC Darwen have scouted Ben at our events in the past but unfortunately for Ben, these opportunities didn’t pan out how he would have liked.

However, Ben showed great determination and continued to attend trials in hopes of once again being scouted. This hard work paid off, with Lancaster opting to sign him.

We spoke to Ben’s dad Douglas who told us: “He’s played a few games for them now, the latest being the night before last. Shane’s very happy with him so that’s really good news.”

We then caught up with Ben who explained: “The coaching is really good at Lancaster, it’s a lot more tactical and structured than I’m used to. The standard of the players is also very good.”

Ben has settled in very well at Lancaster telling us: “I’ve played about 10 games for them now, I’ve managed to work my way into the starting 11. I think I’ve scored three goals and assisted about five or six.”

“My plans are to keep playing for them and working hard to get into the first team.” He added.

We wish Ben the best of luck with Lancaster and hope he can break into the first team full time and continue to grow as a player.
