Aaron O'neill - Aged 10 - Trial for Bury

Aaron O'neill - Aged 10 - Trial for Bury

10-year-old striker Aaron O’neill has recently trialled with Bury F.C after being scouted by four professional clubs at our Manchester event back in April.

We asked his father Aaron Senior for some information on his footballing background where he told us: “Aaron started playing when he was around two years old. He was training at the dome, Manchester City’s training ground on Platt Lane in Fallowfield. He played there for a good few years. Then he started with Wythenshawe Amateurs around two years ago.”

He went on to explain how well Aaron Junior is doing with his current club, saying: “During his first season with Wythenshawe, he was joint top goal scorer. This season he’s totally blown it out of the water. Apparently he’s up to something like 80 goals his coach thinks. He’s done really well.”

“He has just won the cup with his team and he’s taken them up a few divisions pretty much on his own. He’s literally a goal machine; everybody’s always talking about him, asking if he’s been scouted yet and how big clubs haven’t picked him up yet. He gets a lot of attention.” He added.

Aaron explained how he came across UK Football Trials, telling us: “I found out about UKFT through a relative and then searched online. Your events were local, so I read up about all the trials that you have held and saw your success stories and knew that you were a reputable company.”

After finding information on our company, Aaron opted to book his son in for a trial in Manchester where he caught the eye of many scouts. Here’s what he had to say: “He’s been scouted by Accrington Stanley, Bury F.C, Oldham; the Wolves coach got in touch with me about taking him down for trials with Oldham, and he was also scouted by Bolton. Mike Thompson from Bolton wants to come down and watch a few games of his.”

Since being scouted, Aaron has gone in for a trial with Bury where he once again impressed. Aaron Senior told us: “The trial with Bury went really well, Aaron really enjoyed it. It was a two-hour session; they trained for an hour, Aaron joined in with the others and went through all the drills for an hour. Then he played a match. I think Aaron scored about three or four goals in the match so yeah he did really well.”

In regards to Bury F.C itself, Aaron explained: “The facilities were really good, especially when compared to other clubs that we’ve been to, where they’ve been stuffed in doors at a sports college. When we went to Bury it was really nice, great pitches, really good, knowledgeable staff and the players were on another level completely. I said that to them myself, they were 10 out of 10. Aaron really liked it there”

“Junior will be returning to Bury F.C Academy when the season starts back up as he felt most comfortable there and has done really well.” He added.

Everyone at UK Football Trials is extremely happy for Aaron and would like to congratulate him. We hope he continues to impress at Bury and grow as a player.
