League Two side Crawley Town invited 16-year-old striker Lucas Fabio Portugal to trial for the club after seeing him play at our West London event back in April.

After a strong performance at our event, both professional side Crawley Town and semi-pro side Farnborough requested Lucas’ details. We spoke to Michael Lucas’ guardian Michael who told us: “He’s been playing amateur football his whole life so this is a big opportunity for him, hopefully it will work out with Crawley Town.”

Michael also explained what happened at the trial with Crawley: “He did ok, he played with guys who were older than him, and trained with the u23’s. They worked on shooting, passing, all those sorts of things but he felt his knee go in the shooting drill.”

“Although he got injured the club have kept his number and will hopefully take him back in when he’s fit in a few weeks time.” He added

Lucas remained positive despite the injury, with Michael telling us: “He really enjoyed it and he’s feeling really positive. He was happy to get that interest from a club in League Two.” 

Since his trial with Crawley and his injury healing, Lucas has been attending academy training to improve some areas of his game with hopes of once again going back in with the club.
