Scott Mulhall - Aged 15 - Trial for Charlton Athletic

15-year-old goalkeeper Scott Mulhall impressed scouts at our recent trial in April at QPR’s training ground in West London, and was invited to trial for newly promoted Championship side Charlton Athletic.

When talking to his father Steve, we asked for a bit of background information on Scott’s footballing history where he told us: “He’s currently playing for Eastleigh as a goalkeeper. Last season he played with Basingstoke County in the Junior Premier League, but has since left them for the coming season.”

“He chose to join Eastleigh as he was looking for a new challenge, a better club and better facilities, that sort of thing.” He added.

When asked why he chose our event, Steve explained: “The reason I chose to bring Scott to your trial was that I’d heard about your organisation, did a bit of research and I thought it would be good exposure for him.”

Scott participated in a talent ID game for Charlton, his dad told us: “I think the other players Scott was playing with during his talent ID game were a mix of players on trial for the first time and players from their development centre.”

“The standard of the other players was very high and I don’t think Scott looked out of place at all. His feedback was very good, I had an email back from Patrick to say that he showcased himself very well with his good skills, his goalkeeper attributes; his distribution, command of the defence were all top draw. So I’m guessing they were pretty pleased.” He added.

Charlton have been impressed, asking to see Scott in action again in the future. His dad explained: “So they want to see Scott in two more games to decide whether they want to offer him a scholarship for next year. What sort of games they are I don’t know, but rather than coming and watching him play with his own team, they want him to go up to Charlton. I’m not too sure when that is, a couple of weeks probably, Scott’s very obviously pleased.”

Everyone at UK Football Trials would like to firstly, congratulate Scott on his recent success with Charlton and secondly, wish him the best of luck in his two upcoming games with them. Hopefully he can continue to impress and go on to sign as a scholar with the club.
