Two semi-pro sides scouted 17-year-old Luke Taylor after he impressed at our trial held in Manchester back in April.

This wasn’t Luke’s first trial with UK Football Trials, having previously attended in February. Unfortunately for Luke, he wasn’t successful on his first attempt, but he showed great character and determination to come back and catch the eye of both Lancaster City and AFC Darwen.

We spoke to Luke’s dad Darren about his current football situation where he told us: “He plays for Rimington F.C in the East Lancashire league. He plays anywhere down the left, left wing, left back, he’s quite diverse as long as he’s out wide. He plays for another club during the week.”

After learning he had been scouted, Luke was invited to play in a trial match for Lancaster, his father explained how it went: “The match was a weird one and quite hard to judge. I think Luke did alright, I would say he looked like one of the more technically stronger players on the pitch.”

“The coaches seemed to know what they were doing and the first team manager was there and spoke with the lads too.” He added.

Luke’s trial match was hopefully the first of many, Darren explained: “From what I could gather, it’s a summer league that they’re playing in. They basically bring players in and then release them and the players that are there at the end of the summer are the ones that they are interested in.”

Luke clearly made an impression in his first match for the side, being asked back to play again. Unfortunately though, Luke was away in Newcastle playing for his college football team. However, Lancaster has said they will be in contact to let him know when he will next be featured in a match.
