Semi-pro side Farnborough offered 16-year-old Harrison Burke a trial after spotting the central attacking midfielder at our West London event held at QPR’s training ground back in April.
Harrison currently plays at grassroots level, telling us: “I play centre midfield or central attacking midfield for a Sunday league team called Lambeth Spartans, who are a South London team. We play various academies and teams like that.”
Harrison also explained what happened during his trial with Farnborough, stating: “The trial was a two and a half hour session, it was a lot of technical work with ball mastery and things like that. It was quite similar to your event. The drills were very well set up and quite challenging.”
“We played a match towards the end for around half an hour. I feel like I performed really well, I made some good passes, dribbles and showed what I could do.”
“There were three scholar players in the session with us as well others who were on trial. The level of the academy players were a very, very good standard, they were good players. Taking into account the teams that I’ve played for and against previously, they were definitely up there with some of the best I’ve trained with.”
“The coaching was very good too. There was one coach that led the session with an additional two helping out.”
After such a strong trial, Harrison clearly impressed, being invited to sign as a scholar. He told us: “Farnborough have offered me a scholarship with the club if I wanted to sign. I’ve decided to hold off on that for the time being to see if there are any other options that I can explore.
“But Farnborough is definitely up there as one of my main choices. I’m very excited and pleased with the outcome.” He added.
We would like to wish Harrison the best of luck and we are sure that he will make the decision that is correct for him.
