Whilst attending one of our one-day trial events in Essex back in February, four professional clubs scouted 11-year-old Sacha Price.
We caught up with Sacha’s father Jack to find out a little more, where he told us: “Sacha has been playing since he was a toddler, kicking a football around since he was 2 or 3. He is currently the top goal scorer at his club, playing as an attacking midfielder.”
He went on to say: “Sacha plays in the Somerset countryside for a small grassroots club. Because of this, it is UK Football Trials that has given him the opportunity to be able to be seen by clubs that wouldn’t usually notice him.”
When asked to go into more detail about what happened after Sacha attended our trial, Jack explained: “He was scouted by 4 clubs from your event; West Ham, Chelsea, Reading and Ipswich. Since then Sacha’s manager has also been in contact with Southampton, Bournemouth and Bristol Rovers, with Southampton and Bristol Rovers coming and watching his matches.”
Jack went on to talk about the trial with West Ham explaining: “The trial was great, we went down there last weekend and met up with the scout. It was slightly different to the trial he experienced with you guys in that they didn’t do many drills, they just went straight into matches.”
Jack seemed to think that previous experience’s with trials was beneficial for Sacha, stating: “Because he had trialled with UK Football Trials twice previously, he had grown used to the situation which then allowed him to stay calm, perform well and create chances whilst at West Ham. Because of this he has been placed into their Talent ID Centre.”
When asked what Sacha’s next steps are, Jack told us: “He is going to remain at West Ham at the Talent ID Centre for the next six weeks, training once a week. It is a great opportunity for him and it would not have been possible if it were not for you guys.”
Everyone at UK Football Trials would like to wish Sacha the best of luck in the future and we are extremely pleased to have played a part in getting him one step closer to his dream.
