12-year-old winger Najet Villareal impressed at our West Sussex 5 day camp in August, which resulted in him being scouted by a number of Premier League clubs including West Ham United and Crystal Palace!

We caught up with one of Najet’s family members to discuss his footballing background, here’s what they had to say: “Najet plays for a grass roots team called Unity Football Club, they haven’t started this season yet but he was brilliant for them last season.”

“When Najet was younger, he had a six week trial with Millwall but apart he’s never had any other trials for a professional club.” He added.

When asked about his time with West Ham, we were told: “He’s been doing really well at West Ham, He’s been training with them for four weeks and keeps being asked to come back every Monday. It’s going brilliantly at the moment.”

“The training with West Ham is one hour and is split into two halves. The first half they run through drills like ball control, fitness and things like that and then they play matches.”

“The standard is very high with West Ham, but I think Najet is at the same sort of level as the other players.”

“The coaching too is to a very high standard. They are always paying attention and observing the players. If they see a player doing something wrong, they will stop and talk with them to show them how to improve, it’s very good. We have had a very positive experience so far.” He continued.

But the opportunity does not end there with West Ham; Najet has also been invited to try his luck with Crystal Palace. Here’s what we know: “ Najet has also played in friendly matches for Crystal Palace as a direct result of your camp. He has been asked to play with them every Saturday. There is no time frame on how long he will be with them but he is very excited.”

We would like to congratulate Najet on his brilliant achievement and wish him the best of luck for the future. He has showed him brilliant ability and hopefully he can continue to impress both clubs and go on to play for an academy full time.
