10-year-old right-winger Mohamed Sheriff impressed at our Manchester event back in May and was subsequently scouted by Championship club Blackburn Rovers!

We caught up with Mohamed to get a better understanding of his footballing background and to understand why he chose to attend our event and how his trial with Blackburn went.

First of all Mohamed, congratulations on your brilliant trial with UK Football Trials and being scouted by Blackburn! You are obviously a talented player, could you please tell us your football history?

“I play for Failsworth Villa where I received the most improved player of the 2015/16 season and then I was also rewarded player’s player for the 2016/17 season.”

Wow that’s a great achievement, you were clearly performing very well for your grassroots team! So what was the reason you decided to come to our trial? 

“Well, I thought I could be scouted from my local team but unfortunately it was not in my case.”

So how have you found your trial with Blackburn and how do you cope with the pressure of trialling for such a big club?

“I just try my very best at all times during the trail, and keep calm. I have really enjoyed the training and matches with Blackburn Rovers.”

That’s fantastic Mohamed! You sound like you are making the most of this brilliant opportunity! How has it been left with Blackburn? Have you received any feedback or has any decisions been made?

“They have said that I am good player. I had a 6-week development trial with Blackburn rovers FC that was a very successful one. I have since been offered a further 8-week trial with the academy.”

Well-done Mohamed, that is amazing news! As someone who has gone from grassroots to trialling with a Championship club in such a short timeframe, what advice would you give to other players who think they have the talent but need an opportunity to get scouted?

“I would tell any player looking for an opportunity to be scouted to go online and search for UK Football Trials.”
