11-year-old Omar El Masri attended our five-day camp all the way from Dubai and impressed many scouts, including five Premier League clubs!

We caught up with Omar to get a better understanding of his footballing background, why he chose to attend our event and what has happened since being scouted.

First of all Omar, congratulations on your brilliant trial with UK Football Trials and being scouted by so many clubs! You are obviously a talented player, could you please tell us your football history?

“Whilst in Dubai, I have played with Arsenal Academy Dubai 2016-2017, Barcelona Academy Dubai 2016-2018, Manchester-City Academy Dubai 2018-2019, Spanish School Academy 2018-2019 and Al Nasr Club 2018-2019.”

“During this time, I have also won the Dubai sport Council league with Arsenal Dubai 2016 as well as Oman International Tournament Winner Muscat 2017 and

Manchester City Cup Winner Abu Dhabi 2018.”

Wow that’s a great achievement, you were clearly performing very well for your various teams in Dubai! So what was the reason you decided to come to England and attend our five-day camp? 

“I was looking online and I came across UK Football Trials’ website and just felt that it was the right place to start from.”

So after being scouted from our event, how has your experience been trialling with UK clubs?

“It has been an amazing experience so far, football in England is very different to what I am used to, it is a lot more physical and much faster.”

That’s fantastic Omar! You sound like you are making the most of this brilliant opportunity! Have you received any feedback or has any decisions been made with any of the clubs?

“Currently I have not signed any contracts. However, I have been offered a further six week trial with Tottenham, Chelsea and QPR.”

Well-done Omar, that is amazing news! What advice would you give to other players who think they have the talent but need an opportunity to get scouted?

“Working hard is the key to success. There are a lot of talented players who simply stop working on improving. Scouts will not only look at the player’s skill. They will also look at how they do the basics, their attitude, team play and their behaviour on and off the pitch when you win or lose.”
