14-year-old central attacking midfielder Bruno Pagano was scouted by Aldershot and Woking from his third UK Football Trials event.

We spoke with Bruno, who told us of his footballing history, explaining: “I haven’t been able to play for a grassroots club recently due to schooling but I used to play for Windlesham.”

“At the moment I’m currently practicing, a lot of fitness training, gym work, that sort of thing.”

Currently without a club, Bruno turned to UK Football Trials looking for an opportunity to join an academy. He told us: “This was my third UK Football Trials event, I really enjoyed it, and the set up was brilliant and professional.”

“The coaching was again great, the coaches are hugely knowledgeable and you gain a better insight into what you need to do to make it as a pro.”

After attending our event, Bruno was invited to trial with Aldershot. He explained: “I went to the trial and we did training for two hours focusing on things like possession in tight areas, dribbling and technical stuff before moving on into matches.”

“I feel like I played well but I really performed a lot better in the second half of the match. I controlled the game with my passing, dribbling and creating chances. I scored two and assisted two.”

“The coaching was definitely a higher standard to what I have experienced at grassroots level and playing for my school team.”

He continued to say: “After the session the coach approached me and my dad and said that they would like to get me involved in the club. The next day we also received an email telling us that I’d been selected for the academy.”

“I’ve gone straight in with Aldershot’s academy and I’ll be starting with them over the summer.”

After struggling previously with being scouted, Bruno explained how he has overcome this, telling us: “I’ve had trouble with being scouted due to my current size as I am quite small, but I continue to train hard, pushing myself and trying to improve.”
