20-year-old centre forward Sohail Din attended our Birmingham event back in October and was scouted by Paget Rangers for a trial.

We spoke to Sohail regarding his football history. He explained to us: “I started playing Sunday League football when I was 12. Throughout school I always played for my school team but I never really pursued football as I was told that I started playing too late and that I should have already been in an academy if I wanted to make it as a professional.”

“Also I wanted to focus on my education, after school I went to college and I am currently at university. I had friends who didn’t continue their education and focused on football and haven’t really gone anywhere with it.” He added.

With football always at the back of his mind, Sohail finally opted to try his luck with 11-a-side and decided to turn to UK Football Trials. He told us what changed his mind: “I always thought that I was pretty good at football and my friends were actually the ones who were telling me to go to your trial.”

“After not ever really playing 11-a-side, I finally decided when I was 17 or 18 to give it a shot. So I went to your Birmingham event back in August but nothing really came of it, and then again in October and this time I was scouted by Paget Rangers.”

Since receiving the news that he was scouted, Sohail informed us what has happened since: “I have been training with them, and was also involved in a friendly against the under 19’s. We won 4-2 and I spoke to the manager after who told me to carry on coming along to training.”

“I feel like I’m doing well with the club, I’m going to carry on playing my own game and hopefully things carry on going well.”
