Abdullah Mohamed, 15, attended our Birmingham one-day trial and was scouted by Premier League side Aston Villa for a trial.
When talking to Abdullah, he told us that this wasn’t his first trial for a pro club, explaining: “I was on trial with West Brom for a week when I was younger.”
“I was really close to being signed but unfortunately I didn’t have a passport at the time.”
After this set back, Abdullah chose to explore avenues which would allow him to be seen by pro scouts and attended two of our events. He explained: “I chose to attend your event after a friend of mine mentioned it to me. I thought it was the best option and went ahead with it.”
“I attended for the first time and was unsuccessful, but I came back and was luckily enough scouted by Aston Villa.”
“After your event, Aston Villa got in contact and offered me a three-day trial with the club which ran everyday from 9am to 4:30pm.”
“Whilst training, we worked on a lot of tactics, things like what to do whilst in possession, how to play forward as a team, etc. We also did a lot of footwork drills and things like that.”
Following his trial we asked Abdullah if there had been any decisions made, he told us: “With Villa I was again close to being signed, but they felt I wasn’t quite at the required level just yet.”
“I spoke with the Head of Recruitment who told me that the club are going to continue monitoring me over a period of time to see how I am getting on.”
Everyone at UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Abdullah on a brilliant trial with us and for being scouted by Aston Villa.
We will continue to stay in touch with Abdullah and report on more updates when we get them.
