24-year-old left-back Constantin Calmis impressed at our Birmingham event and was subsequently scouted by Cadbury Athletic and Gainsborough.

We caught up with Constantin to get a better understanding of his footballing background, why he chose to attend our event and how his trial with Cadbury Athletic went.

First of all, congratulations on your brilliant trial with UK Football Trials and being scouted by two clubs! You are obviously a talented player, could you please tell us a little bit about your football history?

“I've played at professional level in Republic of Moldova for 2 teams; Saxan Ceadîr-Lunga and Speranta Nisporeni! I have also been called up to play for the National Teams starting from u15-u21!”

“The most memorable moment for me is when I played for the u21 national team against Belgium u21. Tielemans the Leicester city player was playing and a few others. Also I've played for Petrocub London for a couple of months.”

Wow that’s brilliant Constantin, you clearly have a lot of experience when it comes to football. So what was the reason you decided to come along to one of our trials? 

“The reason I chose to come to your trial was to show my abilities to decent scouts who really could see in me my best!” 

Since being scouted at our event, could you please talk us through the process that followed please?

“I attended training with Cadbury Athletic. I played with the reserve team and the training was a decent standard.”

“They have asked me to come and play for them fulltime but I’m interested in finding a team at a higher level. They are very good but I believe I can play at a higher standard and that’s my goal.” 

That’s fantastic Constantin! As someone who attended our event from abroad and has gone on to be offered a place at a club from our event, do you have any advice for others who are in a similar position?

“I would say go to a UK Football Trials event. It’s a great opportunity and I think it is awesome as there are a lot of scouts from great teams. You can definitely find a club and develop all of your abilities”
