22-year-old David Jerrard was invited to trial with Hastings United after being scouted at our West London event back in December.

Speaking with David about his football history, he explained: “When I was very young, around eight until 15-years-old I played for Bournemouth but I was released just before players were offered scholarships.”

“Then I went into semi-pro football, playing for Dorchester for two seasons and then Gosport for two seasons.”

He continued: “It can be a difficult decision to choose between pursuing your dream or going to university, or getting a job. The way I see it is to try and go for your dream and if it doesn’t pan out you can go back and do those other things.”

With such a strong background in the game, we asked David why he chose to attend our event. Explained: “I thought it would be a good idea to attend your event as I am quite well known around the Bournemouth and Southampton area so I thought your event will allow me to be watched by new scouts.”

“Football is a matter of opinions, scouts in my local area may not like me as a player but a scout in London might think differently.” He added.

Moving on to his trial with Hastings, David ran us through what happened: “I attended a training session. We starting off with a warm up and some technical drills before heading onto the pitch and going through some crossing and shooting drills.”

“All together it lasted around two hours and it was a very good, intense session.”

“There has been no decision made just yet but they seem impressed with me and have invited me back for further sessions.” He added.
