16-year-old centre forward Marvis Idehen impressed at our Essex event and was scouted by Aveley Football Club.
We caught up with Marvis to get a better understanding of his footballing background, why he chose to attend our event and how his trial with Aveley went.
First of all Marvis, congratulations on your brilliant trial with UK Football Trials and being scouted by Aveley! You are obviously a talented player, could you please tell us a little bit about your football history?
“I play for my college team Barking and Dagenham College who represent Dagenham & Redbridge u19.”
Wow that’s brilliant, you have clearly been performing very well for your college team. So what was the reason you decided to come along to one of our trials?
“I wanted to be seen by coaches and scouts that was why I went to the UK football trials because I know I will be seen there.”
Since being scouted, could you please talk us through what has happened since?
“The trial I had with Aveley was good. I learnt a lot from the players and the coaches as well. We had drills and then 11 vs 11 game. It was really good and a great experience for me.”
That’s fantastic Marvis! Has there been any feedback since, or has any decisions been made?
“I got an email from the club saying they were really impressed with my work rate, attitude and coachability.”
“Because of this, they are delighted to offer me a place next year!”
That is absolutely brilliant! As someone who attended our event and have now gone on to sign for a club, do you have advice for others who are in a similar position?
“I would say talented players who think they are good enough to play football and who also want scouts to watch them play should go for the UK football trials.”
“They should be hard working though, because talent without hard work doesn’t work.”
UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Marvis on both his trial with us and for going on to sign for Aveley. We will continue to release updates on his progress as it comes in.
