Following an impressive performance throughout the week with us at our five-day camp at Royal Russell School in August 2020, Bjorn Marwa, 12, was scouted by a massive eight clubs!

Since the camp, Bjorn has gone on trial with Chelsea’s academy. We caught up with his father Deane to discuss his football history, why he chose to attend our event and what has happened since being scouted.

So Deane, congratulations to Bjorn on a great performance with us, before getting into what has happened since being scouted, could you please give us some information regarding his football history?

“Bjorn lived in Dubai between 2014-2019, where he played for his school and a local academy.”

That’s brilliant! Once back in the UK, why did you choose to bring Bjorn to our event?

“Bjorn attended UK Football Trials in the hope of getting spotted by UK clubs after he relocated home to the UK.”

“From your event he was scouted by Chelsea, Southend, Crystal Palace, Luton, Portsmouth, Charlton, West Ham United and Wimbledon!”
 

Wow! That is an unbelievable result! It seems like it was a great decision on your part Deane! Could you please talk us through what has happened since Bjorn was scouted at our event?

“Bjorn is half way through his Chelsea trial. The quality of training and coaching has been exceptional.”

That is incredible Deane! As someone who had no professional academy experience to trialling with a top four Premier League side, does Bjorn have any advice for players who may be in a similar position?

“Bjorn’s advice is Have the confidence to put yourself out there. If you do not play you will not be seen.”
