After an impressive performance at our Manchester event towards the end of 2019, two clubs scouted 17-year-old Kayed Mathis.
Kayed, who plays as a centre-back, attended both our Essex and Manchester events with hopes of being recognised by clubs in the UK after travelling over for the trials from France.
He was brought to the event by his agent who has had previous success with UK Football Trials after one of his players signed for a League Two club’s first team.
Kayed was delighted to have learned that not only had two clubs scouted him, but that he was offered a two-day trial with Championship side Huddersfield Town A.F.C.
Speaking with his agent, he explained that Kayed had impressed and was invited to trial at the clubs academy for a full two days of intense training.
Kayed again put in a strong performance but unfortunately did not sign for the club. However, chance to trial for a championship club was a great learning experience for the young player and a good introduction to English football.
Operations Director Tom Rudd said: “We were delighted to hear that Kayed impressed a number of scouts at our event.”
“To travel overseas where you are not familiar with the style of play and still be picked up by a top club is not an easy thing to achieve. Kayed should be very proud of what he has done.”
Everyone at UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Kayed on a brilliant trial with both Huddersfield and us and we wish him all the best with his football in the future.
