After attending our Manchester event back in 2019, 19-year-old Hashim Khan was delighted to hear that four semi-pro clubs had scouted him!
Speaking with Hashim, he explained: “I was scouted by Boston United, Atherton, West Didsbury and Buxton. I’m over the moon!”
Talking more about his football history, Hashim explained to us that he had quite the background. He told us: “I’ve played for Blackburn, Huddersfield and Preston North End previously. Preston North End was through UK Football Trials back in 2016.”
After unfortunately not making it with Preston, Hashim didn’t give up. He attended further trials with us in the hopes of being scouted. His thought process was: “The reason I decided to attend another event was because as players get older, they convince themselves that they wont make it. But I’ve always had the mind set that I can no matter what.”
He continued: “I’ve had many setbacks in football but it just motivates me more, to show that I can do it and prove everyone wrong.”
From the four clubs that scouted Hashim, Boston United were the first to make contact. He discussed his time with them, explaining: “The group were great; really friendly and welcoming.”
“The training was also really good. The standard was a good level and I really felt challenged.”
Hashim continued: “Unfortunately due to the distance of the club and the fact I am studying at university, I’m unsure if I will be able to attend further sessions with Boston United but we will see.”
After a player who showed a brilliant attitude to set backs in the game, we asked Hashim for advice for players in a similar position to himself, he told us: “The advice I would give to players looking to make it is to keep focusing and put yourself before others.”
“There are always opportunities, players can still get into the game later in life, they just have to keep working hard and believing.”
UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Hashim on being scouted by four clubs and displaying the perfect attitude needed for football.
