16-year-old Kanayo Megwa attended a number of our events throughout 2019 and 2020.

With his performances came a lot of interest from clubs in both the Premier League and Championship.

Speaking with Kanayo’s father, he explained that the young midfielder had attracted interest previously from Premier League clubs: “Kanayo started playing at 5 for a local team from there he got scouted Chelsea and Tottenham under 6’s.”

After relocating to Dubai and playing out there for around three years, Kanayo moved back to the UK for schooling, his father explained what happened from there: “When playing back in the UK he trialled for Accrington Stanley. However, we decided to move him to another school and with that came more exposure to clubs.”

After moving schools, Kanayo’s father thought the best exposure would come from our trials, he explained: “His progression in football was going well playing with his school team but we still felt like he needed to be seen more. That’s when we decided to bring him to your events.”

This paid off with Kanayo being scouted by both Watford and West Brom he said: “Kanayo was scouted by Watford, and took part in a session in their dome.”

“Unfortunately the distance was a bit of an issue due to the location of his school but it was a great experience he really enjoyed it and I’m still in touch with the scout.”

He continued: “The trial with West Brom was different than with Watford.”

“With Watford it was a one off but Kanayo has attended a number of sessions with West Brom. The feedback has been positive so far and Kanayo is really enjoying it.”
