Andre Scott - Aged 14 - Trial for Ipswich Town

Andre Scott - Aged 14 - Trial for Ipswich Town

Back in August 14-year-old Andre Scott who plays as a holding midfielder was scouted by Ipswich Town!

This was not Andre’s first experience with UK Football Trials or with being scouted from our events.

Back in 2019 Andre attended our football camp held in Sydney Australia and caught the eye of Charlton Athletic who he subsequently trialled with.

Since moving back to the UK, Andre continued to search for a club and once again opted to trial at one of our trials. He explained why he thought UK Football Trials might be the best place for him: “Many coaches have said that I was at the academy level with my football but I just think that I was not getting the exposure that UK Football Trials offers.”

As well as trialling with Charlton, Andre has also trialled with Colchester since returning to the UK. He explained what has happened since then: “After attending latest UK Football Trials event I have been scouted by several clubs including West Ham, Tottenham, Norwich, Ipswich Town and Southend United.”

“I have been in with Ipswich off the back of being scouted in Essex, it was very good as the as the training was intense and all the players were at a high level technically and physically.” He added.

From his positive experience with the club, we asked Andre what the coaches made of his performance with Ipswich Town, he told us: “After my trial game with Ipswich Town one of the coaches said that he was very impressed with my performance and that I was very comfortable on the ball. He also said I had good athleticism.”

He continued: “Its early days and the Covid-19 pandemic has delayed my trial so no decisions have been formally made just yet.”

As a player who has had opportunities previously but they have not gone according to plan, Andre could have given up with his dream of playing academy football. Instead he has come back stronger and more determined to succeed.

We asked him what advice he had for players in a similar position to himself. He explained: “Hard work is definitely key. As long as I can remember I have always been training in my free time, I have had to sacrifice my time going out with my friends. You can be talented, but you need to work hard and be dedicated.”

UK Football Trials would like to wish Andre the best of luck with his football journey and will continue to report on updates as they come in.
