14-year-old winger Bade Aluko is on trial with Leicester City recently after being scouted from our five day camp in West Sussex.
We caught up with Bade to discuss his football history, why he chose to attend our event and how his trial with Leicester went.
In regards to his football history, he explained: "Until now, I have mainly played football as a hobby and at prep school level. I captain the Windlesham House 1st football team who went unbeaten in the 2019/2020 football season. On Sundays, I also play matches for the Chorleywood football 12 team. At the time, I played with the age group above. We won the West Herts Youth league cup in May 2018."
We then asked Bade why he never trialled with clubs previously playing at school and Sunday league level, he told us: "I received a lot of interest while at Prep school. We also had a coach from Brighton & Hove Albion come to train a few of us on Thursdays but I just didn’t seem to have the hunger to become a footballer at that time of my life."
He continued: "In my prep school report, I was referred to as the best footballer that ever attended the school. This was extremely flattering. I started having ideas. But then, Covid came shortly after, and this limited the opportunities."
Now at an age where he felt he could thrive playing football, Bade attended a trial with Leicester City where he was put through his paces. Commenting on the experience he said: "The club trial was an all-round exciting experience and it was amazing to be trained by top coaches and to get to play football with many good players. The event was well organised and I really did have fun."
Following on from his trial, we asked Bade if there have been any developments or feedback. He explained: "I am currently trialling with Leicester City. It is going really well and I am making new friends. I believe I am doing well and was delighted to score my first goal in my second game against Lincoln City. I am being used as right back currently."
As a player who went from grassroots football to trialling with a top Premier League club, we asked Bade if he had any advice for players. He said: "They must give the UK Football Trails a shot. The events are really top class with very experienced coaches. They would not get a better opportunity to get scouted. The country’s top scouts are present. It's almost a no brainer."
UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Bade on an amazing trial with ourselves and Leicester City. We would like to wish him all the best with his future and we will continue to bring in updates.
