18-year-old striker Dylan Mobbs was scouted from our West London trial in October by Torquay United and Sutton United after a very impressive display.
Speaking with Dylan, we asked him what his footballing background was. He explained: "I come from Australia originally and whilst there I played for Eastern Suburbs F.C."
He continued: "After leaving Australia I moved to Italy where I played for Venezia F.C at U17 level."
Moving on he told us why he travelled to the UK and chose to attend one of our trials: "I decided to attend a trial after being released from Venezia during the pandemic."
"I wanted to look for opportunities in the UK so whilst spending time at the Fleetwood Town International Academy I attended a trial in London."
He then began to explain his experiences with both Torquay and Sutton: "I found the experience with Torquay to be very professional. It was my first experience with men’s football, the pace and physicality was a good challenge for me. I got to experience the standards of what a full time men’s side are first hand."
"I also attended a trial match with Sutton United and have been asked back for another match in the near future."
Unfortunately his session with Torquay was as far as it would go for Dylan, he explained: "I was told by Torquay that they aren’t looking for a striker at this point in time unfortunately but it was an amazing experience."
Finally Dylan shared some advice for players in a similar position to himself: "I would definitely recommend registering to attend a UK Football Trials session because of the amount of visibility it offers to get picked up by a club is amazing."
UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Dylan on his brilliant trial with us. We will stay in touch with him, continue to monitor his progress and share updates as they come in. If you would like to track his progression yourself you can find him on Instagram by searching @dylanmobbs.
