13-year-old Freddie Rothery was scouted previously by Rotherham after being scouted at our Sheffield trial. After trialling with them he chose to attend our five day training and trial camp where he caught the eye of a scout from Burnley.
We spoke with Freddie's Father Troy to see how he is doing with the Premier League club's academy.
Firstly we asked Troy why Freddie chose to attend our five day camp after being scouted from our Sheffield trial. He told us: "Freddie attended the 5 day course to give him the insight of how a footballer trains. Freddie absolutely loved every second of it and didn’t want it to finish, Freddie will be attending next year also."
After learning he had been scouted after a very impressive performance throughout the week, we asked Troy how his son felt and what has happened since. He explained: "Freddie was over the moon when he found out that Martyn from Burnley was taking him in for a trail. The training at Burnley is amazing and everyone is very nice and really helpful."
"Freddie is yet to feature in any matches but we are hoping that it will come soon." He added.
As a gifted player with the dream of making it as a pro, we asked Freddie what players inspire him, he said: "Messi, Ronaldo, Grealish, Kalvin Philips are all players that I draw inspiration from.
He also offered advice for players in a similar position to himself looking to be scouted, saying: "The main thing is to just enjoy every minute and always play with a smile on your face."
UK Football Trials will continue to bring in updates on Freddie's progress with Burnley and wish him the best of luck with the future.
