Lewis Flynn - Aged 15 - Training With Radcliffe U21 & First Team

15-year-old goalkeeper Lewis Flynn has been training with Radcliffe's first team and U21 squad after being scouted from our Cheshire trial back in 2021.

We spoke with Lewis' father John to gain an insight into his son's football history and what has happened since being scouted.

First of all we asked John to talk us through Lewis' footballing background, he explained: "He first started when he was 11 and did a couple of months trials with Accrington. It was a great experience but unfortunately he did not progress any further with them."

He continued: "After Accrington we attended your trials three or four times over the years. Through your company Lewis was scouted by Bury where he trialled and eventually signed with them."

"Unfortunately after about four weeks, the club went into administration and closed."

"After the Bury incident we left it for a while and Lewis continued to play at grassroots level, but then we decided to attend another of your trials where he was picked up by Radcliffe."

We asked John to explain what happened since Lewis was scouted by Radcliffe, he told us: "He is training with the first team as well as the U21's. He doesn't feature in league or cup matches due to still only being 15 but he has had some game time in friendlies."

"Bobby Grant the first team coach talks to Lewis regularly at training and gives him advice constantly and all of the players treat him as one of their own."

Being so young training with players much older, we asked how Lewis had adapted, John told us: "Even though he is only 15, he doesn't look out of place with the U21's. Their coach has told me that if their first choice keeper was to get injured, he would have no problem playing Lewis."

He also added: "Before matches Lewis often warms up the first team keeper who used to play for Bury so he's always learning and it's a great experience for him."

UK Football Trials would like to congratulate Lewis on a brilliant trial with both us and Radcliffe. We wish him the best of luck with the future and hope he can continue to impress.

We will bring updates as they come in.
