Kash Odiase, 14, who plays as a midfielder was scouted from our Essex event in October 2021 by Millwall and Norwich.

We caught up with Kash to discuss his football background, why he chose to attend our event and what has happened since.

Firstly we asked Kash to talk us through his playing background. He told us: "My football history includes playing for Bromley fc and Bromley district, I’ve been at Bromley since the age of eight but never been scouted by anyone. I don’t think I was in the right environment for me to do so although I have had some showcase game trials with Crystal Palace."

Moving on to why he felt he wasn't getting the opportunity, Kash explained: "I think the reason I wasn’t getting an opportunity is that I was being overlooked and not enough scouts had seen me at Bromley. I don’t think many scouts have come down to watch so I saw UK Football Trials and thought it would be a great opportunity for me to get scouted."

This thought process clearly paid off for the young playmaker, catching the eye of Millwall's Head of Recruitment as well as a scout from Norwich City.

Curious as to what had happened since being scouted, we asked Kash to talk us through it, he said: "Millwall was very enjoyable and a good learning step. The training was intense and required a lot of focus and energy." 

"I enjoyed it and after around two weeks I was flying high, playing well in games and performing well in training. I was there for seven weeks and it was a very good time for me as I learnt a lot about myself as a player and realised that I can play at this level."

He continued: "I had my seven week trial but unfortunately I was not successful as my style of play did not really suit them. They said I was very technically good, good physically but I was just lacking a bit of intensity they said I was very very close but just missed out."

Although he did not sign for the club, Kash did not let this get to him and continues to train hard and improve as a player, applying his time with Millwall to his game.

We asked Kash for advice he would offer to other players in a similar position to himself, he told us: "To players who think they’re good enough but need opportunities, I advise you to keep working hard and believing in yourself as your time will come. I would advise people to attend these UK Football Trials events as it’s really a great way to get scouted."
