Congratulations to Leon Aghedo aged 8, who has signed for Bolton Wanderers! 

After being scouted at the Manchester event, the Leeds scout told us “Leeds United scouted Leon at the Manchester platt Lane event in April, Leon caught my eye with his ability to move so smoothly with an without the ball, he also showed good technical skills with his weight of passes and the ability to beat defenders in 1v1 situations, also him being an U8 made it really interesting for me” 

The weekend after the Uk Trial event Leon represented Leeds United U8s against Middlesbrough, he performed really well considering all the factors that go into playing for new team at a level he’d never played at. Moving on from there Leon played in a number of different games for Leeds United against Cat 1 Academies Cat 2 academies and also private academies against U9 teams, when they considered all the factors about Leon, his lack of contact times coaching wise, his natural ability, and him not even playing for a team, they wanted to make Leon an offer to sign for Leeds United academy as a U9 next season.

Unfortunately, when looking at where Leon lived, he was outside of the travel distance, so they weren’t in the position to offer Leon this contract. Leeds then contacted Bolton wanderers about Leon as it was a club a lot closer for him travel wise, he represented them in a couple tournaments and was offered a contract to sign for Bolton Wanderers which Leon gladly accepted and is now an official academy player. 

Leons story shows that even if you don’t get signed by the club you are scouted by it can still open up other opportunities.
