Well done to Grayson aged 11, who was scouted by Burnley FC

Grayson started playing football for local team (Littleborough) from the age of 5 and played with them for 2 years before being selected for the interleague team. As a result of playing for interleague Grayson was soon moving up to grass roots high level team signing for FC Unsworth. He has been a part of the team to win multiple tournaments and also had league final days. Also playing for RKix Rangers in Sunday league who have also won tournaments. Since his Football Trials he is now enjoying playing and training with Burnley development since April this year.

We asked Grayson’s parents why they thought he wasn’t getting any opportunities and why they attended UK Football Trials and they said “It’s Difficult to be seen at grass roots level as games in previous leagues were often isolated at various venues and league was varied in terms of level. No scouts observing games ever really happened.”

When asked Grayson about training at the club he added “The training at Burnley development is of a very high standard. We train at a very high intensity and the quality of coaching is excellent. I am enjoying every minute of it and working hard for my opportunity.”

Telling us if the experience has changed his mindset, Grayson said “Definitely train with a much higher work rate and a much greater focus on how to train. Realise that being a good footballer isn’t just about skills and pace but also about having a great attitude, about being coachable and working as hard as you can in games and at training.”

We asked what advice Grayson would give to other players and his reply was “My advice would be to remember from the start it’s about working hard and listening to all your coaches. If you feel you aren’t getting the opportunities to get scouted then definitely attend one of the trials. What better way than to be seen in front of multiple scouts to show what you can do.”
