Ethan attended our Leeds trial in October 2023 and was scouted by scouts from Sheffield United and Hull City. It was Hull City that pounced first and went along to watch Ethan play for his grassroots JPL (Junior Premier League) club. Following the scout’s attendance at Ethans game Hull City decided they liked what they saw and offered to take Ethan into their academy set up for a 9-week training period where he enjoyed training and playing games with the other academy players learning many new things having not been in an academy environment before.

Ethan went on to say that he “enjoyed the various different ways and styles to play football.”

Ethan attended our trials in the 8-10 age group, and he was one of many players scouted at this event for a great opportunity to showcase himself and his ability.

We asked Ethan how he had come to hear of our trial events, and he said, “I saw an advertisement on a mobile phone and thought, I’ll give that a go.” Ethan was very happy that he did decide to give it a go at a trials event as he has now become successful.

The UK football trials provide a platform for aspiring footballers to demonstrate their abilities in front of professional scouts, and Ethan's success story exemplifies the potential rewards of participating in such events not just from a scouting perspective but from an experience point of view.

A final question to Ethan was, would he recommend our trials to anyone else? his answer was simply “Yes because not everyone gets looked at playing football on a Sunday and there you do by scouts.”
