Midfielder Will started his football journey just like many players at grassroots football level and has been working hard to further his football journey even further and so far, he has done very well for himself.

Will started playing grassroots football for Dartford FC before he progressed to Dartford’s Kent Youth League and Junior Premier League (JPL). At just 16 Will joined semi-professional club Sheppey United who play in the 8^th tier of the English Football pyramid and enjoyed a year with them as well as a short spell at Sevenoaks Town who also play at step 8 in the football pyramid.

Will is currently attending a football scholarship with Charlton Athletic Community Trust playing in the u19 National Youth Alliance League achieving some proud moments winning a players player award and an overall player of the season award out of 60 players.

Will attended our Essex trial in February 2024 and was scouted by pro club Boreham Wood from the English National League. He then received an email inviting him into a trial with the u18 squad which he was pleased about. After he attended his u18 trial Will impressed that much that he was called and invited back to trial for the u21 squad and continued to train each week with them.

Here we asked Will how his experience went when he went into the club for a trial and he had this to say…”I went to the club and received a warm welcome which made me very comfortable straight away. I gained lots more confidence in myself and received amazing coaching which has helped me improve in the areas I need to work on to give me much more confidence and self belief.”

Following Will’s improvements within the training period the club were impressed and have offered Will a contract with their u21 squad for the new season 2024/2025 which is amazing news all-round.

Going back to where it started for Will at our trial event, we asked him how he had heard of UK Football Trials and what made him sign up for a trial. Will said he had saw lots of positive things on social media and decided to sign up for a trial. He was so glad he made the right decision “as the day was excellent and I took my chance and was scouted. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get into the semi-pro and pro game as it’s the best trial event.”
