19-year-old right back Landing Darboe grew up in Gambia and played almost his whole life in Gambia. He started playing at the age of 9 but never took it seriously until he got to the age of 15 when he got the chance to play for his local club team.

Landing booked onto a 1-day trial event in Essex to see how he got on and faired compared to other trialists. Landing worked hard at the trial and was able to showcase himself to the many scouts in attendance. Following his trial day he was scouted by Boreham Wood F.C and was contacted to go in for a trial with the club.

We asked Landing to talk us through his trial at the club and what he learned from it. “A lot of things and most importantly I got to showcase myself in front of good coaches and players. I realised I need to improve my game and most importantly stamina as I expected a lot of good players to be at the trial but there were a lot of exceptional players that were in attendance that day.”

Since moving to England Landing hasn’t received many opportunities so although he wasn’t successful on this occasion at a club trial it hasn’t deterred him from trying again and to keep working hard to gain even more opportunities.

As we always do, we asked Landing why choose a UK Football Trials event to trial at and he commented…”Simply for an opportunity because I haven’t had any since coming to England.”

We then asked if he would recommend us to others and he said…“Yes, especially because I saw a lot of scouts there at the event and it’s cheaper compared to other football trials.”

We would like to congratulate Landing on his opportunity and to wish him well for the future on his football journey. We are confident if he continues to work hard and be dedicated, he will get even more opportunities.
