10-year-old Jacob currently plays grassroots football for NC United in his hometown and it’s clear to see why he has attracted interest from a championship club. Jacob is a versatile player and can play as a winger or a striker and has an impressive goal tally with over 25 goals in one season so far. Jacob receives plenty of positive feedback from his coaches and others within the football industry and is mainly praised on his technical ability showing superb footwork. Jacob is also very quick, and he uses his speed to his advantage when out of possession of the ball to win the ball back for his team.

When attending our 1-day trial Jacob brought his own skill set and added this to the advice his coach gave him on the day which was to concentrate and master the basics of football. With Jacob’s own excellent attributes and the coach’s advice Jacob implemented all this together and the result paid off for Jacob earning himself the attention of the West Bromwich Albion scout and an opportunity to come with the club.

We asked Jacob’s mum why the family decided to bring Jacob along to a UK Football Trials event and she mentioned that “Jacob is constantly told by numerous coaches including opposition team coaches that he has great drive and determination and some of the best footwork they have seen for a player Jacob’s age and the family wanted Jacob to gain more exposure to football club scouts.”

We followed this up with the question, would they recommend UK Football Trials to others and why and the family said that “it’s a great chance for players to be seen by scouts and get some great feedback to contribute to their progression.”

Now that the football season is over Jacob is now waiting for the next step from the club and being invited in for a preseason opportunity.
