Following a successful attendance at our Manchester UK Football Trial back in May 2018, young goalkeeper Arron Davies was scouted by many clubs, including Accrington Stanley, Burnley and Blackburn. It became clear that his hard work and dedication has paid off when we recently checked back in with him to see how he had progressed.

Arron’s History

Following Arron’s successful trial in 2018, he was considered so good that he earned himself a 2-year deal at Accrington Stanley at the age of 12-years-old without even attending an official trial with the club. Following that same Manchester UKFT trial, Arron was also scouted by and trained each week with Burnley and Blackburn, and he was also due to go in and train with Everton. However, before this could happen, and after being offered official 6-week trial periods with several other clubs, after some consideration Arron and his family decided to sign with Accrington Stanley. Before he signed his contract with Accrington Stanley, Arron continued to play every weekend for his local grassroots clubs, Durham Federation Wolves on a Saturday and Wallsend Boys on a Sunday.

Current Status

After playing at Accrington Stanley for 3 years Arron decided to end his time there for undisclosed reasons. At that time, there was some concern about whether Arron would be tall enough to become a professional goalkeeper. Now, at the age of 17 years-old, Arron is 6’3” and is still growing.

The next important event was that Arron had an opportunity to play for English Football League One Club Port Vale, ironically against his former club Accrington Stanley. Following this game, Port Vale were so impressed and had seen enough of Arron’s ability during the game to offer him a permanent contract with the club.

Arron’s Dad, Martin, was delighted to be able to share the great news with us and commented that the success that Arron is having all started with a UK Football Trial event in Manchester back in 2018 and would never have happened without an opportunity at the trial to be seen by all the scouts at that one event.

We are very excited to hear of Arron’s success and how he has worked tirelessly to get to where he is now with the real possibility that he will go on to much bigger things in the future. We very much look forward to following Arron’s career in the new season.
