When Callum came to UK Football Trials, he saw it as his next big opportunity. “I wanted to show what I could do, especially after playing grassroots where there’s not much opportunity,” Callum explained. His determination and hard work paid off when four clubs scouted him during the trials, one of which was Ipswich Town.

Ipswich Town invited Callum for an 8-week trial, and his first assessment was a match against Colchester. “We won that match,” Callum proudly shared, adding that he’s currently attending training and preparing for another match this weekend. Callum is fully committed to making the most of this opportunity, and his time at Ipswich has already taught him valuable lessons.

“I’ve learned that when I’m under pressure and in a high-level environment, that’s when I perform my best,” Callum said. He also acknowledged the importance of hard work and perseverance. “If you put the effort in, you will get noticed,” he emphasised. This mentality has driven Callum to continue pushing himself during his trial.

The ability level of players at the trials was even better than Callum had expected. “Yes, and even better,” he noted, reflecting on the quality of competition he faced. But rather than being daunted, Callum thrived in the challenging environment, eager to prove himself.

Callum’s decision to attend UK Football Trials was simple: he wanted to take advantage of every opportunity to get noticed. “I’d definitely recommend it to others,” Callum said. “It gives you the chance to get into the academy setting, which is what I was looking for.”

Although Ipswich has yet to provide final feedback, Callum is optimistic and focused on continuing to perform at his best.
